Play areas and sports facilities

Objectives

LNE checks the quality, conformity and safety of equipment and installations in play areas and sports facilities.

Who are LNE's services intended for?

Manufacturers, architects, designers or suppliers who wish to:

• - ensure their products comply with applicable standards before they are put on sale
• - test the cushioning performance of their safety surfaces for play areas.

Local authorities or facility managers who wish to:

• - have newly-installed equipment inspected
• - have an annual maintenance inspection performed.

Regulations and standards

Services are performed in accordance with the requirements of French law (decrees 94-699, 96-1136, 96-495) and French standards (NF EN 1176, NF EN 1177, NF S52-901, NF S54-300, etc.).

Services provided

LNE will:

provide technical assistance at the design stage,

by testing prototypes and/or finished products to ensure they comply with standards

verify

that play areas, games equipment, local sports facilities or motor skills educational equipment comply with standards and safety regulations

test the cushioning performance

of surfaces installed beneath play equipment and provide pre-market certification of surface samples

check the stability and mechanical resistance

of equipment securing devices.

LNE resources

Using a network of approved subcontractors, LNE can inspect sites anywhere in France. A team of technicians will visit your installations with a vehicle equipped with inspection templates, computation software, etc.

LNE strengths

LNE plays an active part in all standardization work concerning play areas and sports facilities. At national level it chairs a play area equipment committee, and at EU standardization level it represents the French delegation. LNE is also a committee member of Qualisport, a French qualification body for sports and leisure facilities.
