Refrigerants: French decree 737/2007 comes into force

Among many other measures, the Kyoto Protocol specifies an 8% cut in fluorinated greenhouse gas emissions over the period 2008-2012. Achieving this reduction depends in part on ensuring refrigerant and air conditioning equipment is leak-tight.

European Regulation (EC) 842/2006 and French decree 737/2007 require such equipment to be checked every three, six or twelve months, depending on the refrigerant charge.

The French decree also requires technicians working with refrigerants to possess a certificate of aptitude covering their qualifications and the accuracy of their detectors. They must obtain this certificate by July 2009.

LNE will calibrate instruments for manufacturers and users of leak masters, and qualify instruments for manufacturers and distributors of detectors.
