The laboratory’s expertise in research and its support to public policies have been highly highlighted during the last quarter.

The National Geographic Sciences, Le Monde and Le Figaro underlined the contribution of searchers from the French metrology network, directed by LNE, to redefining the international system of units, SI. This redefinition was confirmed during the 24th General Conference Of Weights and Measures held in October 2011.

On October 19th, French states secretaries at the Ministry of Health and Consumption came to LNE in order to announce new measures related to UV booths and intense pulsed light epilators. It shows the laboratory’s support to public authorities in terms of public health and protection of consumers.

Almost a month later, the French ministry of Home Office, came to LNE in order to present the last regulations and instruments contributing to better preventing drunk driving.

At the same time, the laboratory continues to get involved in expanding its range of services to companies and public authorities, such as modelling or the follow-up of energy efficiency policies.

These are developments we are happy to share with you in this second newsletter.
